Does broken voice make any sense to you? What does it mean?

We talk about a voice breaking in young males - around the age of puberty. This is when we lose our high-pitched voices and start to produce deeper sounds.

So it would be possible to say:

He can no longer sing soprano in the choir as his voice has broken.

I don't think I've heard the term 'broken voice' - do you have any context?

I heard it in a song. I'll post it if I can find it.

Is this it?

the scars of a daughter
he gave me the knife
i held it in deep water

together we make the perfect question
there's never enough to go around
it's a cup with a hole and the love pours on the ground

Broken lyrics

He's got a broken voice and a twisted smile,
Guess he's been that way for quite awhile,
Got blood on his shoes and mud on his brim,
Did he do it to himself or was it done to him?

People think he don't look well,
But all he needs from what I can tell,
Is someone to help wash away all the paint,
From his purple hands before it gets too l

Yes, I would take that to mean he has a very rough voice. I haven't heard the term used before.

Maybe it's a lyric/poetry thing.

I'm trying to write a song with the title "Hardly Never" - not correct but I like it.

Thanks, Optilang.

It sounds OK to me Emotion: stick out tongue though I don't know what it means. Is it teh same as almost never?

Off Topic:

You can't say 'hardly never' - it should be hardly ever.

If something never happens - it means it does not happen at any time. So it cannot hardly never happen! Never is never!

Here comes the confusion - I thought I'd successfully avoided it today.

- Almost never ???????????????

Ummm. So is hardly Ever equal to almost never?
