Does broken voice make any sense to you? What does it mean?

We talk about a voice breaking in young males - around the age of puberty. This is when we lose our high-pitched voices and start to produce deeper sounds.

So it would be possible to say:

He can no longer sing soprano in the choir as his voice has broken.

I don't think I've heard the term 'broken voice' - do you have any context?

I heard it in a song. I'll post it if I can find it.

Yes, I would take that to mean he has a very rough voice. I haven't heard the term used before.

Maybe it's a lyric/poetry thing.

You can't say 'hardly never' - it should be hardly ever.

If something never happens - it means it does not happen at any time. So it cannot hardly never happen! Never is never!
