In a bar in the States, I once met a British chap start a conversation with, "Hello. Are you alright?" At first I wondered if looked ill or something. Apparently, his question simply meant, "How are you?"

Welcome.
Welcome to London / the Palace hotel, etc.
It's nice/lovely to see you. (if you know the person).

What is the context in which you are wanting to welcome someone?

Well,I'm trying to welcome a guest to my house and after that I'm going to invite her to taste a dish i've made. That's why I'm looking for some academic utterances to use them in my play
