British narrators that sound Britsh, no accents...

Hi guys,

I am looking for audio book narrators that just speak British(very well spoken), an example is John lee. I read somewhere on the Net that he had just "British" accent , almost impossible to determine his location.

Could you guys recommend me some narrators or BBC podcasts that have natural British accent?

If you click below on the link provided, you will find a sample narration.

What do you think of the narration?

Hmn, it's pretty standard but it's not totally accentless - the vowels sound slightly Midlands/Northern to me … For completely RP (received pronunciation) British pronunciation I would choose a narrator like Juliet Stevenson In terms of podcasts, the narrator on the BBC's 'A History of the World in 100 Objects' or the David Mitchell video podcasts, or for casual modern British RP, Answer Me This (the 2 main presenters, Helen and Olly, not Martin who is from Birmingham). Those last 2 have the advantage of being very funny.

Hi Deborah,

thanks you replying.

Yes, I was referring to modern British RP.So you reckon Helen and Olly are a good model of modern British RP? By the way, do you know their full names? That way I will download everything the Net has got on them.

It's a very informal podcast, but they're pretty typical - Helen Zaltzman and Olly Mann

Thank you!.

Mann's accent and pronunciation is a good model for me due to his clarity. Do you know any other narrators like him?

I mostly listen to programmes with more than one speaker - but if you can still download it, try the 'Reith Lectures' - the vocab is complex but the accent is very standard
