Bring up / grow up

Hello,

can I say "and grown up in various places" ? what 's the difference between "bring up" and " grow up/raise"

Sometimes I read "I didnot raise religious" kind of sentences

" Montana in 1946, and brought up in various places around the US, depending on where his father's job as a research scientist for the Department of Agriculture took him."

Thanks
