Bring down

I know the phrase 'bring down' has several meanings. I saw a sentence today and wonder if the phrase can be used in this sentence.
"Insisting on having our say may bring down disaster."

Hi, It's OK, but 'bring down disaster' looks a bit odd, because the usual phrase is "bring down disaster on us / on our heads". Clive

It's OK, but 'bring down disaster' looks a bit odd, because the usual phrase is "bring down disaster on us / on our heads".
