Brimful of ashes

Hallo,

What does 'brimful of ashes' means in the Cornershop song?

Thanx!

Top answer

I don't know the song. Brim full of ashes would probably refer to the brim of a hat. More generally, I think that brim-full is a common term that means filled to capacity.

A brimful means full to the brim or about to overflow. See also brimming with ____.
Based on AS' post above I'm assuming you misheard "Asha" as "ashes."

Thanx for the reactions. I heard this song on the radio. It's Asha indeed, not Ashes. Asha refers to an Indian singer/composer according to wikipedia.

A "brimful of Asha" would be "a lot of Asha. " It does not mean anything much to me. Maybe she wants to be in your life a lot, or have you listen to her songs a lot.

Hi

Apparently the name Asha also means hope

So the lyric seems to mean "I'm hearing a lot of Asha's songs but that gives me hope"

"On the 45" apparently means - on an old-fashioned 45 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) record player

So the lyric is about hope while listening to a song on an inexpensive record player - it's a nice idea

Many thanks to ...

That is correct! Asha is a pun on the person's name. Thanx for all the information!
