BRIGHT LINING

I heard this, but I could have misheard.
Is this something people say

There is a bright lining in his horrible accident. Had he not gotten into the accident he would have met his wife at the hospital.

Could you explain to me?

Top answer

Usually we talk about a "silver" lining, not a "bright" lining (in American English). It means that something bad had at least one good outcome.
