Bribe or A bribe?

Dear teachers

Could you please tell me if I can omit the article, "a" in the following context or is it required?

Person 1: I hope the new airport does not employ the same corrupt staff who demand bribes from its travelers.

Person 2: They don't ask you for billions of rupees do they? its only 200-300 which is equivalent to 2-3 Pounds.

Me: That is still BRIBE/A BRIBE regardless of the amount. The point is that by giving in to their demands you are basically letting them scam you. Which shows that you might not know your rights as a citizen, brother.
