Breeches of cloth ...

Hi

Breeches of cloth, like the frock, were connected with leggings of tanned deer skin, which in turn extended over, and partly concealed, heavy cow-hide boots.

--- Does "breeches of cloth" means just trousers made of some cloth?

---- It seems to me that "frock" is something like a coat.

---- It says that both the breeches and the frock went together with the leggings that were made of tanned deer skin? And then the leggings were so long that they concealed his boots made of cow-hide?

- - It seems more likely to refer to shorts, to which the leggings are attached to make trousers. -- It seems to me that "frock" is something like a coat. A frock coat is indeed an article of clothing, but so is a frock-- and neither would have leggings; it is mysterious.
