Actually, I have had this doubt for about a month already. And I still don't get it, just it seems not making sense. Alright, I will show part of the lyrics(of course include the phrase that I wonder about):
If our love was a fairy tale
I would charge in and rescue you
On a yacht baby we would sail
To an island where we’d say I do
And if we had babies they would look like you It’d be so beautiful if that came true
You don’t even know how very special you are
[Chorus]
You leave me breathless
You’re everything good in my life
You leave me breathless
I still can’t believe that you’re mine
You just walked out of one of my dreams
So beautiful you’re leaving me
Breathless
Okay, I have highlighted the phrase that I wonder about already. I know it has used the skill IF-Clause. But I just don't understand why the author of these lyrics used "Had" instead of "Have". As I know, "Had" for impossible and unlikely situation. "Have" for possible condition. Am I right? If so, why did the author use "Had" in here? It is meaning that the singer's girl probably does not want to have a babe in the future or she could be sterile? Sorry I really don't get it...my prediction may be too ridiculous though, forgive me and teach me.
