I know "break into" as getting into a building or car using force. However, in this sentence "He felt so happy that he broke into song" it bears the meaning of sudden change. Does it means that he consciously (without any feeling that force him) begin to sing or necessarily it suggests that feeling is involved.
Top answer
Hi, It does usually suggest 'without careful and conscious thought'. eg He broke into laughter. eg He broke into a run.
