Break down for a lead

Hi,

What does it mean to ‘break down for a lead’?

I came across it in an article about a tennis match. I’ve never seen ‘break down’ used in a positive way, so I’m a bit baffled.

Hope you can clear it up for me.

Thank you.

break down usually refers to something that fails or is not successful.

a lead usually is a good thing.

It's hard to think of an example where it would make sense to use these rather contradictory terms.
