BrE vs AmE

Is it true that the 1st floor in BrE is the 2nd floor in AmE? Is it in wide use?

It is usually called the ground floor. The British use Brit themselves, so there should be nothing offensive about it. However, it is true that some older people may consider it a little impolite. It is certainly more informal than Britisher or Briton. A
