BrE or AmE?

Hello,

Is it tue that when a student starts to learn English he or she should choose either AmE or BrE to concentrate on, but not both?

It makes sense to learn the variety spoken by your teacher. If you have to change teachers, it makes life a little simpler if your new teacher speaks the same variety as your previous one, but it's not a tragedy if this doesn't happen..

As far as the spoken language is concerned, it doesn't really matter which accent you pick up, and the minor differences in some areas of grammar are not

Yes, there are, but, as I said, they don't normally interfere with communcication. If you happen to know of a point of difference in grammar (for example, the BrE present perfect versus the AmE past simple for situations in the very recent past), then choose the appropriate form for the variety you are lea
