Brazilian music

Hi,

I am translating a brazilian samba to english. Its name is 'O samba da minha terra' whose writer is Dorival Caymmi.

I´d like to know if you understand the idea, which is:

'Samba from my mothercity sounds like we´re springing

When someone sings, everybody swings'

what do you say? is it understandable?

I don't understand 'it can turn you easy'.

But consider that there are many.many songs in English with lyrics that are unclear. It's not a huge problem.

I think your translation is good; but in the second line, is it not "sounds like we're dancing"?

I do not know Brazilian, but here is an amateur translation of the words from Joao Gilberto..

Samba in my land

Let us dream
When we dance

No man can live
If he does not love Samba
He has no idea in his head
He is ill in the head

Or sick of the foot

I was born with Samba
I grew up in Samba

when I say 'turn you easy' it means that you can not stay still. In portuguese the idea is that when you listen to samba your body moves immediately. It moves your body easily, something like this. DO you think i should change the verb?

I see what you mean - I have translated it as an English poem and it does not have the rhythm of Samba

I don't think I can do that! - but I would like to hear how it would sound..
