I, however, am quite familiar with some parts of Brazil, since I lived there for a year not too long ago.

Or

I, however, am quite familiar with some parts of Brazil, since I have lived there for a year not too long ago.

Or

I, however, am quite familiar with some parts of Brazil, since I had lived there for a year not too long ago.

Please pick the right one for me.

There is no need to use the past perfect, and the present perfect just makes the sentence sound ***-awful. Stick with the first sentence.
