Brazen out

Hi,

1) I came across this sentence and I was wondering if you’d say something like that in a casual conversation or not.

“I had to brazen out my geography teacher’s scolding for something I didn’t even do.”

2) Do you use ‘give someone the third degree’ when someone is asking way too many questions?

“My dad gave me the third degree about the party when I got back home at midnight.”

Thank you.

I am a native speaker of English, and this is the first time I have ever heard of the phrasal verb "brazen out".

"Brazen it out" seems to be a fixed idiom, so you cannot manipulate it like that, even if the meaning was apt.
