Bracketed Ellipsis Expert

I can't find a definitive answer to these on the Net, especially the last examples.



Original: I wonder if he was the one in the restaurant who did that.


Condensed:

I wonder [...] who did that?

(Correct usage above?)

This looks fine, although it's a very strange example. Why would you use ellipsis in your own words? You can just say whatever you want.
