Bracket Use

In this instance, have I used brackets correctly or would another piece of punctuation work better?

Thanks in advance!

"He has subsequently been involved in the deaths of three people (including two marine mammal trainers)."

Broadly speaking, it's not good to get into the habit of using brackets unnecessarily. I suggest a simple comma. He has subsequently been involved in the deaths of three people, including two marine mammal trainers.
