Brace yourself or Embrace yourself

Recently, Game of thrones made this sentence very popular "Embrace yourself, winter is coming". Shouldnt this be brace yourself. May be because winter is chilly. Take some sentence like "Embrace yourself, joker is coming to Gotham". In this case it should definitely be "brace yourself" right and embrace wont make any sense here ?

"embrace yourself" is not a very likely thing to want to say. Both your examples seem to be mistakes for "brace yourself", which means to prepare yourself against something diffcult or unpleasant (for example, the cold winter, as you say).

I'm not very familiar with the show, but it probably should be "brace yourself," not "embrace yourself." Embrace means "hug," so I suppose you could also say "Embrace yourself, winter is coming."

Yes that's what i thought that in first case it made little sense but in second sentence, it surely should be brace. Anyways, thanks a lot for your reply.
