Boyfriend or boyfriend's (orignial poster)

Thanks much for all your input!

I tend to go with 'friend of my boyfriend's' and I believe it's because it's possessive--as we'd say "She's a friend of his," or "He's a friend of mine," but when I started thinking about the logic of 'boyfriend's' it made no sense; hence the post.
