Bound vs. going to

Hi,
could anyone explain to me the difference between "bound to" and "going to", please?

For example:
He's very ill. He's bound to die soon.
He's very ill. He's going to die soon.

My vocabulary lists similar explanations of these two. Please guide me.
Thank you in advance!

They are similar, but "bound" gives the idea of certainty or fate/doom, while "going" is a more general term. So, "bound" (because of the idea of fate/doom) emphasizes something that can't be avoided, while "going" states a simple observation.
