Both the phrase and clause forms do the job?

Hi. I think we can both are correct. Is that right? Thank you for your help in advance.

This book, (1) first published in 19XX / (2) which was first published in 19XX, has gone through many editions.... This new edition includes a new foreword on the heroic life of the author, (1) written by his only daughter / (2) which was written by his only daughter.
