BOTH & AS WELL

When do we use BOTH and when do we use AS WELL. Can you please tell me the differences?

Your question is very general. Generally both presents the two items with equal force to the reader, while as well subordinates one of them.

Both John and Peter are going.

John, as well as Peter, is going.

Both sentences mean that John and Peter are going. However, when you use 'both' a plural verb is needed. When you use 'as well as' the verb should agree with 'John'.
