Booking/reservation

When I check in a hotel, I book a room. The hotel manager registers my name etc for that. Now, from the point of view of the manager, how can I describe his action? Is it right to say: The hotel manager made/gave booking for me. or what?

Is it right to say?

The hotel manager has been asked not to issue/make room reservation to the foreign tourists.

Thanks

-- Nowadays, people usual book (= reserve) a room before they arrive, and the hotel staff book (= reserve) the room for them. When guest arrive, they register and the hotel clerk registers them. -- How nice!

Thanks MM and dimsumexpress.

Believe it or not, there are still some governments in the world who just kick out foreign tourists from some parts of their countries to make sure that they do not see skeletons in the cupboard.
