Booked solid

What's the meaning of this idiom in these two contexts (I think it is the same in both):

"She knew more than a few people who would love to attend. Although Jackie knew I was booked solid and that I had no time to do it, she still took a shot and asked me if I coud give a seminar there." (The sign of Dove, novel by Mary Rose Occhino)

"I just got back in the coast. I was booked solid all the way through. Made all my jump hitch-hiking." (Screenplay of "I wouldn't be in your shoes", by Steve Fisher)

to be booked solid is to have so many things on one's schedule that not a single extra appointment can be added.

The second example needs more context. As an isolated fragment it doesn't make a lot of sense.

CalifJim an teechr,
This is the context you asked for.

Christmas Eve. Afternoon.
Ann is window shopping.
Perry, a fat and stubby man, comes walking down the street.

Perry: Gee! You look great. How's Tom, what's he doing? Is he working?
Ann: No, he--
Perry: You see, I just got back in the coast. I was booked solid all the way through.
Made all my jum

I think it means the same as the first one. Refer to CalifJim's post above.

There's nothing in that context to say whether Perry has a lot of appointments, so I'll just have to say that the definition there is the same as in all the other places I've seen "booked solid" used, which is as I told you about above.

The second one makes no sense as it stands, especially the sentence: "Made all my jump hitchhiking." Fat stubby men are never seen hitchhiking. This is non-sensical as it stands. More context is needed: What does Perry do, that he could be "booked solid all the way through"? All the way through what?
