Boniface

How do you pronounce the "o" in the name "Boniface"? Like "o" in "home" or "o" in "hot"? Thanks!

Yes. "Bonny" v "bony".
(Not that "Boni-" means beautiful, though I suspect that "good" is a beautiful virtue.)

There are plenty of churches in England named after St Boniface, and a number of streets, and a college in Plymouth, that I know of, and they are all pronounced with the 'o' sounding like the 'o' in 'hot'.
