Body vs bodies

Which is correct-"muscles are the body's engine" or "muscles are the bodies engine?"

Top answer

Dear friend, the first alternative does it for you, as 'the body' in this case is used generically (to refer to the people's bodies in general) and in the possessive case, which is required by the construction. The second alternative makes no sense in writing, although it sounds exactly the same as the first one. Respectfully, Gleb Chebrikoff
