blushed/flushed

I blushed/flushed when I found my zip was undone while teaching in my class. [assuming I'm professor]

Please correct my sentence. Also tell me what the difference is between "blushed" and "flushed". In dictionary, they both have the same meaning.

They are synonymous here. I usually use 'zipper', or even 'fly'. Zip remains a verb in my vocabulary.
