Blown

Hi

I remember the feeling of relief. And then playing "Bye Bye Baby" and thinking: "Oh, maybe, we've blown it here"

---- Does it mean that we did it really good or bad?

Top answer

More context. Whatever it's about, it's bad, not good. One usually thinks of "blowing one's chances" - making a bad decision - missing an opportunity.

OK, I get it Avangi. Thanks.

It could relate to the quality of a performance in some way - eg., if it were an audition.

What about Marshall top, Avangi? If someone buys Marshall top what he/she buys then?

A brand of amp popular among rock groups. I'm guessing that "top" refers to the fact that the amp typically sits on top of the speaker.

Hi

Yeah, I know what Marshall amp is, I was just wondering why someone says top. As if it meant that he bought only the top without the bottom.
Take care.

Chances are good that's what it means. It fits in with the "half an amp" expression. ("My speaker" would mean only the bottom; "my amp" could mean either the top or the set.)

I see, so probably they bought only the amp without the speaker?

Right. It may be they're upgrading, and are well satisfied with, or prefer, the existing speaker. Or as a new purchase, it may be know that a certain combination is desirable - sort of like mixing and matching high-performance options on your automobile engine.
