I was watching the movie superman.
The kid who is superman saved his classmates in the past . And one of them said what he had done was like a ***. And superman's mom told " you are blowing it out", trying to not reveal the truth.

The idiom I'm familiar with is 'blow something out of proportion". The 'out of proportion' part is not normally omitted though.

Perhaps she said 'blowing it up', which has the same meaning as the phrase Ivanhr suggests.
