I do not understand this phrase in the sentence below. Does this mean "brag about" in this case?

I shall not be able to avoid blowing my own horn; in autobiographical writing, there is nobody else to do it for me.

Clive is correct (we seldom question his opinion); but I must add that I think I hear the word "toot" more often than "blow" (I haven't Googled it).
