BLEW THE TOP OFF THAT PLACE and TAXIED OUT

Hello friends, here two questions about meanings of expressions:
'We just BLEW THE TOP OFF THAT PLACE that night. It was a motherfucker the way everybody played.'
and
'The plane TAXIED OUT to take off and then it came back...'
Could someone explain them to me?
Thanks in advance, Jo.
