Hello everyone,
Is the phrasal verb "blew on it" correctly used in the following sentence?
1. He took out a whistle and blew on it several times.
Or must it be "blew it"?as follows:
2. He took out a whistle and blew it several times.
If both are OK, is there any difference between them?
Regards,
JA
I'm completely indifferent to the presence of 'on' in that sentence. Take it or leave it. It's all the same to me.

I'm completely indifferent to the presence of 'on' in that sentence. Take it or leave it. It's all the same to me. They're both good. (I'd probably leave out 'on'; it could mistakenly suggest that he blew on the whistle to dust it off, as one might blow on soup to cool it — at least to the dimwitted and clueless.
