Bleeding as a noun

Hi

It's very common to use bleeding as a noun in Indian English. Could you please give your take on this? Does the use of bleeding as a noun sound OK to your native ears?

He was badly injured in the knee and the blood would not stop.

He was badly injured in the knee and the bleeding would not stop.

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, it's fine.

We can tell that "bleeding" is a noun here, since it has the determiner "the", and it can take adjectival modification, as in "The awful bleeding would not stop."
