Blank/empty stare.

Is there any difference between a blank and an empty stare?

Top answer

If someone gives you a "blank stare," this would generally mean that he not comprehending anything he hears due to some kind of emotional turmoil. An "empty stare" would be similar, but here the emotional turmoil would be much greater - the person is essentially incapacitated mentally.
