Bject being at zero on the Z-axis

I think the following sentence is vague in meaning:

The difference between an object being at zero on the Z-axis and the height that it is above zero.

What do you say? How would you improve it? Please help me. Thanks.

I would just delete 'being' and change 'the height that it is' to 'its height'.

My try is: The difference between an object's side at zero on the Z-axis and object's overall height above zero.-- The underlined portions are not really intelligible.
