If so, which is the most common?

2. labor pains
3. (just) pains
4. (just) labor

Well
contractions
and
pains
are different things, even if they are both related to the same experience, check a dictionary.

The pains are caused by the contractions.

In British English, I've only ever heard "labour pains"; though it may well be that mothers amongst themselves say "labour" for "labour pains", as GG suggests. (With luck a maternal BrE will pass by and let us know.)

"Contractions" = the rhythmic tightening and relaxing of the uterine muscles during labour.
