Birds

How do you say when birds are making sound,
where you are walking in the street with your friends.
In my mother tongue, we say 'birds are crying' in casual, usual way.

How do you say for it?

Thanks

It depends on the sort of bird and the season. I suppose most commonly they are singing , but they can also be calling . Tweeting, cawing, squawking, cooing , etc are also used of some species.
