Binging shows on binging on shows

Hello,

Is it grammatically correct to use "binging" in this sentence or should I use "binging on"? Are both versions acceptable?

The countless hours she spent binging old films didn't help to lighten her mood.

It should be "bing(e)ing on old films". I would write "bingeing", but dictionaries accept both spellings. )
