Is ‘bike ride’ in the passage below correct? I think it should be ‘ride a bike’ because what the writer’s parents encourage her to do was:
(1) to jump rope
(2) to ride a bike
and
(3) to play kick-the-can and tetherball
Parents need to realize that children are like baby ducks: They model behavior. I was lucky enough to grow up in a house where staying inside to watch television was not an option. My parents encouraged me to jump rope, bike ride, play kick-the-can and tetherball. I built my world outside the classroom around physical activity. It was a big part of my life then, and a huge part of my life now.
Koji from Japan My parents encouraged me to jump rope, bike ride, play kick-the-can and tetherball "To ride a bike" is definitely correct because I hear it a lot. But when I look up the term "bike", I've just found out that it can be used as a verb too. So if that's the case, it must be correct in that context.
