Beyond

I don't understand the part in bold, I "expect" to see the word standing "behind something", I mean, something behind the product.. but here it says "behind the introduction..." and then "they built a model"
I'm struggling to understand "beyond" here

A great example is the Nintendo Wii, beyond the introduction of an innovative product in a game console market, they built a business model with lower costs - more customers and superior profit margins, they out competed their competitors on the business model
