Expand learning beyond the classroom

Does it mean that your learning has been in the classroom so you need to get out of the classroom and see something different, or does it mean that you have already have the way of learning something other than what you learn in the classroom but it's not enough, so you need to expand it?

(What I'm trying to ask is whether X has been inside Y
