Between or in between

Hi everybody,

I would like to know which of the following sentences are correct?

#1 This is the station between A and B.

#2 This is the station in between A and B. (when we use in between?)

'the' - only one.

'a' - one

Is my definition correct?

#3 B is a station between A and B.

#4 B is the station between A and B.

I cannot state with authority that either of these usages is either correct or not. However, both are clear and specific. That alone, supports them.
