Between or among?

Hi, good morning!

I have a question about 'between' and 'among'.

I thought 'between' follows 2 nouns (between A and B), and for the case there are more than 3 nouns, 'among' is used instead. But, today I read 2 paragraphs that is using 'between' that follows more than 3 nouns.

Can anyone explain about the usage of between and among?

Here are the 2 passages I've read toady.

1. DEFINITION of 'Earnings Call' : Earnings call is a conference call between the management of a public company, analysts, investors and the media to discuss the company's financial results during a given reporting period, such as a quarter or a fiscal year.

2. The internal documents show disagreements between the nation's top environmental regulator, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Transportation Department's auto safety arm, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, when it comes to drafting a new policy over fuel economy.

Thank you in advance.
