between or among

#1 The U.N.O. insists on better understanding between the countries of the world.

#2 There is not much space between the three points.

#3 There is a treaty between the five great power.

Shouldn't it be "among"? We use "between" for two thing and "among" for more than two things.

When there are just two entities, 'between' is used. When there are more, and each is identifiable, 'between' is also used. html

When there are just two entities, 'between' is used. When there are more, and each is identifiable, 'between' is also used. 'Among' is used for situations where the entities are not identifiable, such as, "He divided his winnings among his friends."
