Better/better than

I don't have a better choice.

Do you need the words ''than (something)'' behind this sentence? If no, can you please give me some examples where the word than is necessary?

Thanks in advance.

michaelting Do you need the words ''than (something)'' No. Presumably the preceding context tells what the choices are and which of them you have selected. You don't have to repeat that information.
