Better with articles?

Hi,

Please check if there should be articles in the underlined parts.

1. Once children have been introduced to (the???) writers' workshop, ...

I know what follows a possessive don't need to have an article, but the above one seems to be not right without have the definite article.

2. in seventh grade

I entered seventh grade

The summer between seventh and eight grade

I think the noun grade is countable but why are there no articles in all those cases above?

3. I enrolled in second-year math class.

I know the word 'class' usually doesn't carry an article when used in a normal way but having two adjectives makes me wonder if there is a need to have the article 'a'.
