Better or Best

Can you please help me correct these 2 sentences?

1 You better/best be leaving now. Now is when he needs you most, so leave and help to go help him.

I use "better." I hear "best" a lot. My inclination was to say that "best" is casual, or regional; but I'm not sure. I hear it from educated native speakers.

You definitely need to add "had." (You'd better be leaving now.) Without it, it's clearly casual conversation.
