Better of the two; best of the three

Are these all correct?

Between the two candidates interviewed, he was the better of the two.
Among the three candidates interviewed, he was the best of the three.

He was the smarter of the two brothers.
He was the smartest of the three brothers.

She was the stronger of the two athletes.
She was the strongest of the three athletes.

Debbie was the prettier of the two girls.
Debbie was the prettiest of the three girls.

Do note that while the superlative is logically correct for groups of two, some (many?) people feel that you should only use the comparative for groups of two.
